Apartments:
Apartments could be a good alternative to the hotels.
The pros and cons
Pros: In general apartments are cheaper, bigger in space, equipped with a kitchen (so you can cook something). So in most of cases apartments are better value than hotels.
Cons: Booking in advance in highest season is very unpredictable. Even if you book through a reliable agency, even if you pay a deposit, when you're here it happens very often you get not exactly what you have booked. The explanation is simple. Apartment owners do not wish to leave it empty in highest season waiting let's say for you. This is not a hotel with many rooms (and so with much better logistic of check-in and check-out).
How to get the cheapest apartment.
If you know a few words in russian language (in Crimea people speak russian), you come to Yalta not very late and ready for some adventure, so the best price you can get from let's call them resellers waiting for you on bus station and in many other places. Actually when you get out from a bus you will be "attacked" by these resellers offering apartments in Yalta. They have a list of addresses with phone numbers of owners. You discuss the approximate location and price and when you say your probably YES, they will bring you to show the apartment. They can show you several options to choose between.
Pros: you actually can get the best price and location
Cons: they will try to make you agree on the most expensive apartment (usually it worth its money, but you probably do not need this "super suite"). So be prepared to insist on what you really want.
